Feel Good Friday

It's Friday. In 13 days I'll be home. We're planning our first dinner party at our home this weekend. So many things to be happy about!

So here're some "feel good" ads/photos. The oh-so-traditional x'mas images we all had at some point in our lives...snow, handsome man, warm hugs and sweet kisses. Oh and ya, the blue box doesn't hurt too!

It's been crazy chilly the past few days even though the temps have yet to dip into the 30s...You can't sleep without winter socks and a sweater and a super thick duvet. You can't go out and grab a quick lunch without wondering if it's worth it (I wish someone would pack me a bowl of angus beef chili everyday). And you definitely don't feel like going anywhere past 5pm because it's dark out and chillier than ever.

For all the late adopters of FB...like me!

I wanna lay down

It's sooooo hard going back to work after a 4.5 day long weekend that was filled with lamb chops, sausages, pasta, brunch, chicken wings, triple chocolate mousse cake, butter pound cake, frozen yogurt, hot pot, etc. Mix that in with sleeping in till 10ish every morning and watching endless TV and movies, how does one go back to work on Monday???

Go away Monday.

I just want my bed back.

A soldier's letter

Prior to moving to the States, the war in Afghan sounded so far and almost unreal. Recently I kinda got to know someone who volunteered for the war. Reading his emails about the situation and how he feels and why he's there made me tear up a little at times even though I didn't really know him that well.

People are missing people from Afghan. And people are missing soldiers at Afghan.

This war is real.

Good reads in bedroom

I love having books by the side of the bed and I have an ever-changing stack of good reads next to me for bedtime reading but having a ceiling-to-floor shelf of books is something I never thought of and seeing this makes me think maybe....

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins

First taste of pumpkin...I stared at the orangey puree from the farmers' organic pumpkin can, I thought since I've never had pumpkin, might as well take a lick.

It's kinda weird. This sounds totally oxy-moronic but it had a very veggie taste??!! I may have recently cultivated the habit and liking for certain salads, I don't think I can bring myself to eat fresh pumpkin.

And I gotta be honest...baking them into muffins was still kinda foreign to me. I wasn't sure if it was meant to taste this way. But the office crowd said they were perfect!

Sweater season

I'm usually more of a flowy silk dress kinda girl and although I've traded in my heels for flats due to bumpy Boston roads, there's something else that I've take to which I never thought much of.

Sweaters. That warm cosy soft touch of knit and cashmere is probably the only thing I look forward to now that the weather is starting to freeze up a lil. Oh hey, and the smell of new leather boots too!
